Planned Outage to the myUNT portal and EIS Learning Solutions for Software Upgrade
Some portions of EIS, the university's Enterprise Information System, are being upgraded to an enhanced version of software. The upgrade allows the university to stay current with federal regulatory updates and takes advantage of new features and software improvements delivered by Oracle PeopleSoft.
Beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20th, the myUNT portal (my.unt.edu) and the EIS Learning Solutions (myls.unt.edu) websites will be unavailable until Monday, November 23rd.
Some business processes that students, faculty and staff access through EIS will be out of service during this upgrade period:
• myls.unt.edu provides administrative functions in support of human resources, payroll, advancement and student administration.
• The myUNT portal provides self-service capabilities for faculty and staff (human resources access, academic advising, grading, etc.) and for students (financial aid, registration, grades, payments, etc.)
Services independent of myUNT, such as UNT eCampus, EagleConnect, EIS Financials (myfs.unt.edu), www.unt.edu, and Outlook webmail are not effected by the outage and will continue to be in service.
CRM Celebrates Team Efforts
The CRM Functional and Technical teams recently enjoyed lunch together to celebrate their latest accomplishments. In the last few months, the team has created a utility for sending bulk HTML emails, implemented a process to capture profile data from students’ SAT/ACT tests, supported the efforts of the Spring UNT Preview event, implemented fundamental business rules for use by the Graduate School’s CRM processes, and written reports using XML Publisher.

Thank-a-Thons Complement University’s Annual Fund Phonathon
The UNT Contributor Relations Systems Development Team (CRSDT) has made it easier to say “Thank-you” to donors. CRSDT developed self-service data extracts for Advancement’s Annual Fund Phonathon to quickly identify people who have fulfilled monetary pledges in support of the University. By loading this information into a program named RuffaloCODY, the Annual Fund can now schedule “Thank-a-thons” to call donors and personally express gratitude for their monetary support.
EIS Financials System Upgrade: e-Pro Processing Changes
The EIS Financials system upgrade requires e-Pro processing changes during the week leading to the scheduled go-live. Purchasing and Payment Services must have all current requisitions processed through to purchase orders in EIS prior to the conversion. In order to allow for processing time, all departments must have needed requisitions created and approved through e-Pro on or before 5:00PM on Tuesday, March 10, 2009. Additional information is listed in the February 2009 Spreadsheet Newsletter posted online at http://pps.unt.edu.
APPX Prospect System Retired
Following a transition to CRM (Constituent Relationship Management) last fall, the Office of Admissions officially retired its APPX undergraduate prospect system on Friday, January 23, 2009.
At an event hosted by Steve Vocelka and Lawanna Robinson, a small group of APPX users and CITC support partners gathered in GAB 560 that Friday to say “good bye” to APPX and witness the final shutdown of its ntsf880v1 SUN host.
Attending from Admissions were Janetta Willeford, Ailene Horton, Allison Carpenter and APPX administrator, Walter Bowen. Nancy Fisher and Brian Richman represented EISTS, and were joined by Don Butler from CITC.
Also on hand that day from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine and the School of Health Professions was Joel Daboub, Assistant Dean of Admissions and Outreach. Back in 2002, Joel was a member of the team that ported the prospect system to APPX.
The undergraduate prospect system was a cornerstone for student recruitment follow-up operations for more than two decades. The system was originally built in 1987 with SPEED II, a 4GL development utility on the Wang VS5 platform.
